Enter any two African airports in the search bar at the top of this page and the calculator prices every aircraft that can fly the route in a few seconds — flight time, positioning, airport fees and runway limits included. No sign-up and no obligation; you only share contact details if you want operators to confirm a firm quote.

What the private jet cost calculator includes
- Flight time for every aircraft — from each type’s cruise speed, climb and descent, so you can compare a turboprop with a light, midsize or heavy jet on the same route.
- Positioning — the cost of flying the aircraft from its base to your departure airport and back again, which on many African routes is a large share of the price.
- Airport, handling and navigation fees at both ends.
- Runway checks — length and surface at more than 3,000 airports and airstrips, so an aircraft that cannot use a gravel safari strip is never shown for it.
- Fuel stops on long sectors where an aircraft cannot fly non-stop.
- Return trips — the calculator compares keeping the aircraft and crew with you against two separate rotations, and uses the cheaper.
How a private jet price is built
There is no fixed fare. A charter quote is the sum of four parts:
Passenger sector + aircraft positioning + airport and handling fees + crew and mission costs = total price.
That is why multiplying flight time by an hourly rate rarely gives the real number. Our 2026 planning rates per flight hour are about:
- Turboprops (Cessna Grand Caravan to King Air 350i): US$1,400–3,900
- Light jets (Citation Mustang to Learjet 45XR): US$3,200–5,500
- Midsize jets (Citation XLS+, Hawker 800XP): US$5,900–6,200
- Super-midsize jets (Citation Sovereign+, Challenger 350): US$6,800–7,500
- Heavy and long-range jets (Challenger 605 to Gulfstream G550): US$8,800–11,500
Each aircraft’s page in the fleet guide shows its own cost per hour, seats, range and runway needs.
A flight time calculator for African routes
The same search works as a private jet flight time calculator: every result shows the time in the air for that aircraft, including any fuel stop. A light jet covers Johannesburg to Cape Town in about two hours; a turboprop takes around 45 minutes longer. On short safari hops such as Maun to Victoria Falls, the turboprop is often the only sensible choice.
Popular routes to try
Every route guide shows live estimates for each aircraft that fits, refreshed twice a day. Browse them all in popular routes or the Africa private jet price index.
From estimate to firm quote
When an aircraft looks right, request exact pricing. Operators covering the route confirm price and availability by email, usually within a few hours. If your dates are flexible, register for empty-leg alerts as well — repositioning flights can be well below a normal one-way.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is the private jet cost calculator?
The estimates are computed from aircraft performance, real runway data, positioning and fees, and calibrated against operator quotes. They are planning figures; the operator confirms the final price, which moves with availability and fuel.
Does the estimate include positioning?
Yes. Flying the aircraft from its base to you and back is included, which is why the same flight can cost very different amounts from different cities.
Is the calculator free to use?
Yes. Searching is free and needs no account. Your details are only shared if you choose to request a firm quote.
Can it price return trips?
Yes. Choose a return and the dates, and the calculator compares keeping the aircraft with you against two separate rotations.
Can it price flights to safari airstrips?
Yes. It covers more than 3,000 airports and airstrips across all 54 African countries and only shows aircraft that can use the runway at each end.
