A 12–15 day safari-and-beach private-jet journey through the Maasai Mara, Zanzibar, Sabi Sand and Mauritius, with luxury stays and realistic aircraft handoffs.
The classic high-end Africa rhythm: safari, Indian Ocean, safari, then a final island stay — without forcing the same experience twice in a row.
Maasai Mara → Zanzibar → Sabi Sand → Mauritius

This is the itinerary where changing aircraft is a feature, not a flaw. The best bush strips reward small aircraft; the long overwater sector rewards a larger cabin. Trying to keep one jet throughout usually makes the trip less elegant.
Start with the more open, landscape-driven safari. Three nights gives the wildlife enough time to deliver and leaves the traveller ready for the coast rather than for another game drive destination.
Aviation: Nairobi/Wilson → the camp strip is typically 40–60 minutes by Caravan, PC-12 or King Air.
Use Zanzibar as the cultural beach chapter rather than simply another resort. Three nights gives time for Stone Town, one private dhow/boat day and a quiet recovery day.
Aviation: the Mara → Zanzibar movement should be planned through an approved international gateway. Depending on camp and operator, allow roughly 2¼–3 hours total flying plus formalities.
Return to safari, but make it a different product. Sabi Sand is denser, more lodge-centric and especially strong for leopard. It should feel like a second chapter, not a repeat of the Mara.
Aviation: Zanzibar (ZNZ) → Skukuza (SZK) is about 1,215 nm and typically 3–3½ hours by midsize jet. Complete the final transfer from SZK by road, helicopter or lodge aircraft.
Finish where there is nothing left to schedule. Mauritius works better than Zanzibar for the final decompression stop because the resort infrastructure is deeper and the onward international connectivity is stronger.
Aviation: return from the Sabi Sand lodge to Skukuza (SZK), then SZK → Mauritius (MRU) is about 1,470 nm. Allow roughly 3½–4 hours in a suitable super-midsize or large-cabin jet, subject to payload, winds and overwater planning.
| Sector | Practical routing | Indicative time |
|---|---|---|
| Nairobi → Maasai Mara | WIL/NBO → camp strip · bush aircraft | ~40–60 min |
| Maasai Mara → Zanzibar | Via approved international gateway | ~2¼–3 hr flying + formalities |
| Zanzibar → Sabi Sand | ZNZ → SZK · midsize jet, then lodge transfer | ~3–3½ hr + final transfer |
| Sabi Sand → Mauritius | Lodge → SZK, then SZK → MRU | Final transfer + ~3½–4 hr |
August and September are the cleanest overall compromise: strong Mara conditions, dry-season Lowveld, generally comfortable Indian Ocean weather and manageable heat. The route can work outside that window, but it should then be designed around the client’s highest-priority stop rather than marketed as one universal season.
The budget is driven disproportionately by the two paved-airport jet sectors, especially Skukuza–Mauritius. Price those first in the charter search, then layer in the bush movements. The pricing guide explains the assumptions.

Times are indicative planning ranges. Final route and aircraft depend on runway suitability, international formalities, permits, weather, baggage, payload and operator approval.
